Ikebana (Japanese Flower Arrangement) for Children

By ikebananyc

A day at a nursery school giving an ikebana lecture and demonstration to help teachers introduce ikebana to children 3 to 4 years old.

It’s fun to think about ikebana with a young child’s mind.  Children naturally love flowers.  What can they learn from ikebana?  Ikebana can bring them close to nature: use their imagination; sense of touch, sense of smell;  learn about shape, color, size… I had a fun day showing teachers how to help kids create an Ikebana.
